June 30th, 2026
from 10:00 to 14:00
SMART-ME is a project funded by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Switzerland 2021-2027 programme. It brings together ICMATE-CNR’s research expertise in Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs), the SMA material production capabilities of ERREGI S.R.L., and the systems engineering know-how of Mecartex SA to develop mechatronic prototypes based on electronically controlled SMAs. SMAs are particularly well suited for use as compact, lightweight, silent and highly energy-efficient positioning actuators.
During the industrial dissemination event, participants will be introduced to the characteristics, advantages and applications of SMAs. The programme will include presentations of the demonstrators currently under development, as well as a round-table discussion on applications in the advanced manufacturing, MedTech and aerospace sectors. In particular, SUPSI’s Institute of Systems and Applied Electronics (ISEA) will present its recent educational, research and development activities in the field of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuators.
