from 18:30 to 20:30
The theatrical performance “Once Upon a Time There Was War”, scheduled as part of the Optional module on International Cooperation for the Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, aims to encourage reflection on a complex but ever-relevant topic: war, a contradictory reality that brings destruction, suffering, and the breakdown of dialogue, but can also push societies and leaders to seek peace and initiate real change.
In a single act, events, characters, reflections, dialogues, and songs follow one another in an attempt to retrace the history of recent decades and show that war is not inevitable.
“Once upon a time there was war” is a title that might seem utopian. “Utopia” is not a word suited only to dreamers, poets, or madmen. It does not mean escapism, but the ability to imagine something that does not yet exist, making it possible. This is demonstrated by the lives of some people, some well-known, some less so, who over the years have been able to jam the mechanism of war, “for a future that takes humanity into account.” Through the voice of Mario Spallino, accompanied by original music and songs by Guido Tongiorgi, their stories come to life on stage to remind us that men and women can, through their choices, perform extraordinary actions.
“Once upon a time there was war” is a show, but also and above all a contribution to an education that includes utopia in its path.
