An educational project for the new SUPSI Bachelor's and Master's promotional campaign
"Uniqueness" is the visual concept that will represent SUPSI in its promotional campaign for Bachelor's and Master's courses for the three-year period 2023-2025. The project, created by Anna Duca and Mélanie Turano, was selected from nine others as part of a didactic project involving 20 students of the Visual Communication degree course during the 2022/2023 spring semester.
The educational project
The project involved 2nd year Bachelor students in Visual Communication, who were entrusted with the important role of designers for the Bachelor's and Master's degree course promotional campaign. In pairs, they worked on a complex visual communication project, the theme of which turned out to be an interesting didactic challenge within the framework of the multi-channel project for the SUPSI institutional brand.
The result was ten projects, all of which were valid and interesting from the point of view of the graphics and content put to value; from these, a jury - made up of representatives from SUPSI and the Junge Grafik Association - selected the winning project, which will be the protagonist of the Bachelor and Master promotional campaign for the next three years.
SUPSI congratulates all the students for their commitment and is proud to present this initiative to the public, which is the result of the students' commitment and a significant example of the practical and professional orientation of its training.
The set of projects is the protagonist of a travelling exhibition set up within the campuses, which is open to the public and can be visited until 20 December at the Department of Business Administration, Health and Social Affairs, Stabile Piazzetta, in Manno.
The winning project - 'Uniqueness' by Anna Duca and Mélanie Turano
Anna Duca and Mélanie Turano, creators of the winning project, present their concept revolving around the metaphor of the brain in a video, also recounting the experience of the teaching project and the excitement of representing SUPSI in its campaign.
All projects
SUPSI Image Focus
The concept is intended to highlight the multidisciplinary aspect of SUPSI and to represent the breadth of educational areas within the institution. The formal aspect consists of images and videos brought to a moderate level of abstraction by means of chromatic contrast.
SUPSI Image Focus
Representing the uniqueness of SUPSI - the union of practice and theory, academic and professional - was the thinking behind the design. The values of SUPSI education were represented by means of the metaphor of the weave, which means to unite, to link two objects together and make them move forward together.
SUPSI Image Focus
The leitmotif of the project is adaptability: the aim was to represent, through a formal language, the wide range of courses offered by SUPSI, thus showing how this university adapts to everyone - from aspiring architects to aspiring data scientists - and is always evolving and transforming.
SUPSI Image Focus
The concept is based on the uniqueness of the SUPSI institution. The concept of connection and dialogue between the various departments has been developed, and this has been declined by abstracting the shapes of the buildings and creating a new pattern.
SUPSI Image Focus
The graphic design is based on the concept of continuity: the visual overlaps in the poster are intended to represent the past, the present and the future. A path that the university, but also the student himself, follows on a daily basis.
SUPSI Image Focus
The concept is based on the saying 'a range of offers', referring to an elegant object recognisable by its unique movement, used and made in various forms. Hence the change of the SUPSI payoff to 'a fan of experience', to highlight the wide range of opportunities offered to its students.
SUPSI Image Focus
The design is built around a grid, a solid basis for design. Non-geometrical shapes, juxtaposed with each other, form letters that, in the overall poster, allow the word SUPSI to be read.
SUPSI Image Focus
The project is developed around the concept of interdisciplinarity, inspired by SUPSI's practical approach. The printed representation - photographic, pragmatic and concrete - visualises how the different locations (campuses) with their respective fields of study are in constant communication and evolution also thanks to this aspect.
SUPSI Image Focus
The intention is to emphasise SUPSI's distinctive training approach, which combines the academic and professional aspects. An integration represented through the use of two distinct colours which, when combined, generate a third colour.
