This change stems from a shared process of reflection aimed at strengthening the Centre’s positioning and identity, as well as defining a more structured and coherent framework for the development of study, research and collaboration with the local community. The aim is to foster greater scientific integration, build critical mass and increase the impact and visibility of the activities carried out.
The new Centre will continue to be led by Barbara Antonioli Mantegazzini, Full Professor of Public Economics and Sustainability Policy, and aims to serve as a reference point for applied and participatory social research, capable of connecting academic knowledge, professional practice and the needs of communities.
A new identity for social research
The reorganisation of the Centre allows it to strengthen its identity around social research, understood as research on society, with society and in the service of society. In this context, CReS promotes an interdisciplinary and impact-oriented approach, aimed at understanding contemporary social transformations and translating scientific knowledge into concrete tools for analysis, design and decision support.
The mission of the Centre is to develop knowledge on contemporary social transformations, particularly regarding changes in the world of work, public policy and the regional economy, through research, training and collaboration with institutions and partners from the public, private and third sectors.
Research areas
CReS will be organised into six thematic research areas, representing the main fields of scientific and project development:
- RES Laboris – Transformations in the world of work
- RES Socialis – Social security, inclusion in the workplace and social enterprises
- RES Familiae – Family policies, gender equality and child protection
- RES Publica – Regional economy and public services
- RES Diversitatis – Youth, migration and social participation
- RES Habitatis – Urban dynamics, citizenship and sustainability
Through these initiatives, the Centre aims to develop competitive research projects, research commissions and interdisciplinary collaborations, with the aim of fostering the consolidation of specialist expertise and the development of innovative projects geared towards social, regional and institutional impact.
A look to the future
With its new positioning, CReS intends to consolidate its role as a hub of expertise in social research, promoting dialogue between research, professional practice and social innovation, and actively contributing to the sustainable and inclusive development of local areas.
