The award ceremony promoted by the Fondazione PREMIOSWISSENGINEERINGTICINO celebrates young people who earned their Bachelor’s degrees at the SUPSI Campuses in Mendrisio (Department of Environment Constructions and Design) and Lugano-Viganello (Department of Innovative Technologies).
The Foundation’s support is valuable and reflects constant attention toward those entering the workforce.
Premio SUPSI Bachelor
The first-place prizes (1,000 CHF each) were awarded to Valentina Hess (Bachelor of Arts SUPSI in Interior Architecture) for her thesis The Invisible Cycle of Matter. Villa Brazzola – Restructuring and reconfiguration of dependency, and to Alan Pipitone (Bachelor of Science SUPSI in Computer Science Engineering) for his thesis project Counter Drone.
TalenTicino
The study grant, worth 3,000 CHF, awarded annually to support students continuing with a Master’s degree, was awarded to Nicolò Di Cristofaro (Bachelor of Science SUPSI in Civil Engineering and thesis project Sustainability and innovation. Expansion of the Camorino elementary school) to further his studies with the Master of Science SUPSI in Civil Engineering).
Award for the best presentations
The best thesis project presentations were also recognized with laptop computers; Gaia Iacobucci (Bachelor of Arts SUPSI in Conservation) with the project Case study of a plaster model. Apollonio Pessina, the Summerer-Bernasconi funerary monument (1912) and Michael Arru (Bachelor of Science SUPSI in Mechanical Engineering), who presented Numerical study of CZA catalyst morphology and its influence on performance in methanol synthesis reactors.
Premio Startup Garage
Finally, a cheque for 500 CHF was awarded for the best projects currently underway at the Startup Garage, an initiative aimed at those wishing to develop their entrepreneurial spirit. This year, the winners were Giorgio Gaudio and Alessandra Vanella (Master of Arts in Interaction design) for the Take Care project and Francesco Garofalo (DAS Gestione sanitaria) for the Spitex Guard project.
The ceremony was attended by Milena Properzi, Head of the Department of Innovative Technologies, and Nicla Borioli Pozzorini, Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Manager in the Department of Environment Constructions and Design. The awards ceremony provided a valuable opportunity to meet representatives from partner companies and institutions.
