MAInD Expanded Talks series continues with a new guest lecture by Raven Kwok (aka Guo, Ruiwen), visual artist and creative technologist. Kwok’s artistic and research practice focuses on generative visual aesthetics emerging from computer algorithms and software processes. He holds an M.F.A. in Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and his work has been exhibited and screened internationally at major media art and film festivals, including Ars Electronica, FILE, Vienna Independent Shorts, Punto y Raya, Resonate, and FIBER.
In 2023, he received the 44th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Graphic Design and Art Direction in Documentary.
In the talk Algorithmic Alchemy, Kwok will present a selection of projects developed through creative programming, showing how custom-built software can summarize, transform, and manipulate the logic behind visual forms. He will share his creative process, present live prototypes, and discuss how experimental systems evolve into final outcomes. The talk is part of the course Programming Interactive Objects with Andreas Gysin
