Educational project
Avalanche victim tracking system
SUPSI Image Focus
The project led to the development of a wearable device to help locate hikers in case they are swept away by an avalanche.
The work, lead by the Institute of Systems and Applied Electronics (ISEA) and Dos Group, also involved a student from the Master of Science in Engineering - Electrical Engineering Profile.

The product, which is compatible with systems already on the market, is capable of transmitting the precise location of the victim, using highly advanced radio modulation techniques that allow it to be received by rescue teams, even through a thick snow cover.

In the course of the project, the student had the opportunity to engage with the following technologies:
- redundant transmission radio circuits, with various advanced modulation techniques
- GPS
- simulation of antennas and radio propagation through layers of snow
- firmware development on a microcontroller
- low-power electronics
