The Centre also offers continuing education programmes in the field of development and cooperation for professionals who wish to attend refresher or specialisation courses during their lifetime (life-long learning).
Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Development and Cooperation
The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Development and Cooperation is a university course of continuing education, promoted by SUPSI and FOSIT (Federation of NGOs of Italian-speaking Switzerland), aimed at enhancing professional and social skills in the field of cooperation and development, promoting the upgrading of those already working in the various organisations and the training of new recruits. The individual modules provide participants with interdisciplinary and intercultural elements.
The CAS Cooperation and Development is aimed at people with various interests in cooperation and development; people active in the field of development and project communication; NGOs, national and regional institutions, academic institutions, international organisations.
Admission to the CAS Cooperation and Development is reserved for holders of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Applicants without such a qualification but who can prove significant experience in the field may be admitted on dossier.
The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Water Sanitation and Hygiene
The Certificate of Advanced Studies in Water Sanitation and Hygiene course is designed to provide practitioners with an understanding of the fundamentals of WASH in both humanitarian and development contexts. It introduces students to the fundamentals of planning, designing and implementing activities aimed at improving sustainable and equitable access to domestic water supply and sanitation and improving hygiene behaviour.
The study programme is jointly organised by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag) and the University of Neuchâtel (Uni-NE).
CAS Performing Arts Practice in Conflict Zones
The CAS Performing Arts Practice in Conflict Zones is aimed at professional artists from Europe and conflict zones who wish to bring their artistic practice to fragile areas.
CAS provides the tools to initiate sustainable projects that strengthen solidarity and empowerment processes within a society. It enables participants to reflect on themselves as cultural workers and to develop an awareness of diversity within an artistic project based on exchange and collaboration with people and artists from different backgrounds.
