As part of the intense programme promoted by Switzerland’s platform (House of Switzerland Italy 2026) at the Swiss Centre in the heart of Milan, the Department of environment constructions and design SUPSI in Mendrisio contributes to the cultural debate with a public lecture.
In her talk, Federica Corso Talento will offer a reinterpretation of the alpine spirit as a living heritage of knowledge, practices and relationships built over time, capable of providing concrete tools to address the challenges of living, cross-border cooperation and sustainable innovation, by bringing tradition and the future into dialogue within the alpine context.
Through a selection of alpine projects and initiatives as concrete examples of cross-border cooperation and innovation, Federica Corso Talento will address several themes: the alpine spirit as a millenary cultural heritage shaped through inhabited landscapes, shared practices and historical forms of cooperation; the concept of a millenary lexicon as a key to reinterpreting tradition as a living resource for contemporary challenges; living in alpine territories as a system of relationships between landscape, settlements, climate and quality of life; cross-border cooperation as both a historical practice and a current model of governance in the alpine context; European and transnational alpine programmes as tools to translate long-term cooperation into contemporary action; innovation as reinterpretation and adaptation, connecting traditional knowledge, territorial resilience and sustainable development; and the alpine system as a living laboratory for new ways of living, cooperating and innovating.
The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 17 February 2026 from 17:00 to 18:00 in the Salone delle Alpi (Swiss Centre, via Palestro 2/4, Milan). The event is open to all visitors of the House of Switzerland Italia 2026, as well as to anyone interested; admission is free; in Italian.
