The volume I metodi, edited by Gian Piero Quaglino and Chiara Ghislieri and published by Raffaello Cortina Editore, has recently been released. The work brings together developments, practices, and emerging perspectives in education, creating a rich mosaic of innovation and experimentation in teaching methodologies.
The handbook also includes two essays documenting educational experiences developed at SUPSI within the activities of the Applied Psychology Competence Centre and the Bachelor in Social Work of the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care( DEASS): Narrative Games and Fairy Tale Group.
The two contributions, edited by Lorenzo Pezzoli, Head of the Applied Psychology Competence Centre, reflect a well-established educational experience developed over the years and integrated into the Bachelor in Social Work curriculum.
Narrative Games is linked to the module Narrative Approaches, which has been offered within the Bachelor in Social Work since 2015 and is taught by Lorenzo Pezzoli and Cinzia Campello, researcher at the Applied Psychology Competence Centre. The methodology highlights the potential of storytelling and play as tools for learning, reflection, and professional development.
Fairy Tale Group, on the other hand, draws on a longer tradition in the training of social workers, which began in 2000. This experience was subsequently expanded to meet the curricular needs of the Bachelor in Social Work and was further developed within the module Methods and Techniques for Intervening in Mental Health Distress, active since 2016.
This module brings together, within an integrated learning framework, the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana and numerous local partners, including the Cantonal Sociopsychiatric Organisation, the Sociotherapy Service, INGRADO, Pro Mente Sana Ticino, and Club ’74, an association composed of psychiatric patients and former patients that actively participates throughout the entire educational pathway.
The inclusion of Narrative Games and Fairy Tale Group in a volume dedicated to the most innovative methods and perspectives in education represents recognition of the value of the teaching methodologies developed at SUPSI and of their contribution to the education of future social work professionals.
