The conference "If one winter night a traveller: travel notes on school inclusion in Switzerland" retraces the main stages of the transformations of a compulsory school that has always been confronted with choices that are structurally more or less separative towards people with special educational needs, illustrates elements supporting historical legacies, in one sense as well as the other, and on the basis of data from the Swiss cantons, discusses the pedagogical and scientific implications in relation to the development of truly inclusive school environments that are increasingly common to all.
The event will also be an opportunity for colleagues, and for the authorities present, to recall Michele Mainardi's important contribution to the institutional and academic development of SUPSI and to educational policies and practices at cantonal level and beyond.
The Lectio Magistralis will be introduced by Marina Carobbio Guscetti, Councillor of State and Director of the Dipartimento dell'educazione, della cultura e dello sport (DECS), and by Mattia Mengoni, Head of the Sezione della pedagogia speciale of DECS. This was followed by institutional thanks from Franco Gervasoni, Director General SUPSI.
