The main purpose of the coaches is to guide and motivate first-year students in their education through their personal, social and professional skills.
The coach accompanies and advises the student according to their needs. The demands of the first-year student may be administrative, organisational or study management.
The coach does not replace the lecturer or assistant and does not offer repetitions of course content to students.

Below are some advantages for first-year students participating in these activities:
- avoid the feeling of abandonment by comparing themselves with students who have gone through the same experience;
- benefit from meeting moments dedicated solely to students, where they can ask questions or share experiences;
- identify one's own shortcomings and difficulties and improve through discussion with the coach and other students;
- increase confidence in oneself and one's competence as a student.
