On Thursday 4 December, at 5.45 p.m. in the Multipurpose Hall of the SUPSI Campus in Mendrisio, the documentary “La Pandemia Oscura” (The Dark Pandemic) will be screened as part of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence” prevention campaign. Paola Ghisleri, producer and director of the documentary, will introduce the film.
In Switzerland, 27% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 experience violence from their partners. Through interviews with experts and testimonies from survivors, the documentary reveals an often overlooked reality and shows the severity and consequences of this crisis, exploring the support systems and preventive measures adopted to address it.
After the screening, Myriam Proce, Institutional Coordinator in the field of domestic violence, Justice Division, and Kim Savoy, Crime Victim Support Service (LAV), will discuss the issue in depth in a round table discussion, focusing on the situation in Ticino. The discussion will be moderated by Elisa Milani, Senior Lecturer and Researcher, Centre of Applied Psychology, SUPSI.
For organisational reasons, registration for the event is required using the appropriate form.
The documentary is in French with Italian subtitles.
The event is jointly organised by the SUPSI Gender and Diversity Service and the USI Equal Opportunities Service, with the patronage of the City of Mendrisio.
