From 8 to 12 September 2025, the International Team took part in the annual EAIE (European Association for International Education) conference, the leading European event dedicated to international higher education. The event, which brings together hundreds of universities, institutions, and organizations from around the world each year, represents an important platform to promote academic cooperation, share best practices, and strengthen international networks.
SUPSI took part in the event as a member of the Swiss delegation, actively collaborating with other universities and national institutions. This approach, coordinated by Swissuniversities, made it possible to highlight SUPSI’s expertise and initiatives, underscoring Switzerland’s active role in the internationalization of higher education.
During the week, the International Team met with numerous established institutional partners, with the aim of strengthening existing relationships and ensuring continuity in mobility and scientific collaboration projects. At the same time, participation in EAIE also made it possible to develop new contacts, particularly with institutions located further afield, thus expanding SUPSI’s international network and creating new opportunities for exchanges for students, faculty, and staff.
EAIE also offered the opportunity to take part in numerous workshops, seminars, and networking sessions focused on issues of great relevance for internationalization, such as international mobility strategies, digitalization in education, transnational partnerships, and global inclusion policies. These opportunities for exchange provided valuable insights to further develop and innovate the activities of SUPSI’s International Office, strengthening internal expertise and ensuring that the institute’s initiatives remain aligned with international standards.
In addition, following the visit of the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences to Brussels in April 2024—an initiative promoted by the ARES Commission for International Relations in collaboration with Movetia and Swissuniversities—an encounter took place characterized by particularly rich and stimulating exchanges. From that occasion, the desire emerged to continue dialogue on themes and projects of common interest between the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and Switzerland. Several concrete actions have already been initiated, including an informal meeting during EAIE 2024 and a webinar dedicated to the funding of research programs between Wallonie-Bruxelles and Switzerland. This year, at EAIE 2025, the collaboration continued with another fruitful exchange that allowed for a deeper discussion on possible future collaborations and academic exchanges, further strengthening ties between Swiss and Belgian institutions and paving the way for concrete initiatives benefiting students and researchers alike.
Participation in EAIE represents a strategic component of SUPSI’s mission to promote internationalization, not only as an added value for students but also as a key element in staff development and in consolidating relationships with international partners. This experience confirms SUPSI’s central role in the international higher education landscape and highlights the importance of investing in collaboration and networking at the global level.
Through this participation, SUPSI strengthens its ability to offer concrete opportunities for mobility, exchange, and cooperation, contr
