John is a Bachelor's student in Electrical Engineering. He finds the course of study very engaging and fulfilling both personally and in terms of professional prospects.
What school are you from and how did you get to know SUPSI?
After secondary school, I did my apprenticeship as a production watchmaker at the Scuola Arti e Mestieri in Trevano (SAMT). After obtaining a full-time vocational school-leaving certificate, I started the Assisted Practice Year (APA) in Electrical Engineering and then went on to do a Bachelor's degree.
What are you studying?
I am studying Electrical Engineering in the energy field.
I find this course of study very engaging: it has allowed me to dive into the technical field I am most passionate about and I am getting all the knowledge I need to understand it. I chose this path because it is the one that I find most fulfilling on a personal level and which seems to open up the most possibilities for me in the professional world.
What is the advantage of studying at the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI)?
One of the things I appreciate most is the integration, already in the first year, of theory with practice. This allows students to gain a concrete understanding of the concepts acquired in class.
What are your goals for the future?
I would like to reach a level of competence necessary to work in one of the many innovative fields of electronics and be able to contribute significantly to the development of the industry and our society.
Is there a particularly significant experience you would like to recount?
The most significant experience so far was the semester project that allowed me to interface with the real world. The realisation of the required device was the first example of complete product development for a real need. This work has not only been rewarding, but also an important source of motivation and has given me confirmation that I have chosen the direction that reflects my interests.
