Lugano, East Campus

The Hybrid Materials Laboratory of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Technology (MEMTi) is organizing the International Summer School on Computational Design for Additive Manufacturing, an international educational initiative dedicated to advanced computational design, with a focus on field-driven design, additive manufacturing, and advanced ceramics.

  • Hours:  14:00  - 18:30

Lugano, Campus Est / Zurich, Campus Gleisarena / Live streaming

The event explores how the Industry 5.0 vision, aimed at a more human-centric, sustainable, and resilient industry, translates into concrete applications within the pharmaceutical sector. Through introductory talks, real-world cases from the Swiss pharma industry, a keynote on the Lab of the Future, and a roundtable discussion, the event fosters a shared understanding and encourages networking among industry, applied research, and the Decision Science Alliance community.

  • Hours:  17:30  - 19:00

Online - Zoom

Artificial intelligence should be discussed in the plural, because there are many types. And the one that is most talked about, “generative” AI, is among the most problematic. Bruno Giussani, author of the book “La mente sotto assedio” (The Mind Under Siege) and specialist in the impact of digital technologies, will speak in about how our professional and private lives are increasingly structured around platforms and algorithms, the opportunities and risks and how to relate to them with clarity

  • Hours:  16:00  - 17:30

Lugano, Campus Est, aula A1.02

Academic seminar focused on generative design for heat transfer enhancement, with particular attention to metamaterials and field optimization. The event will open with an introduction by Nicola Bianco, Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering. This will be followed by a scientific talk by Marcello Iasiello, Associate Professor, addressing computational methodologies and new frontiers in advanced thermal design.
