The public event, moderated by RSI journalist Sara Galeazzi, featured presentations by Claudia Vaccarone, media and gender expert and Inclusion Strategy Advisor, Marcella Gantenbein, RSI diversity and inclusion representative and RSI personnel development specialist, and Alessandro Marcionni, Head of Fiction and Documentaries at RSI and member of the RSI Diversity and Inclusion Group. They demonstrated how public service broadcasting can play a strategic role in combating stereotypes and promoting new narratives that are sensitive to equal opportunities.
During the event, the Ermiza 2025 Award was presented, which recognises contributions that promote greater attention to gender issues and equal opportunities in radio and television newsrooms and web portals in Italian-speaking Switzerland. Now in its eighth year, the award also recognises articles published in both print and online newspapers.
The First Prize went to “Women and Democracy. A History of Exclusion” by Cristina Artoni and Marco Pagani (ReteDue, Alphaville), for its rigorous and original analysis of the historical roots of women's exclusion from politics.
The Second Prize was awarded to ‘In the Name of Poverty’ by Sharon Bernardi (Il Quotidiano), a sensitive and in-depth investigation into the economic and social inequalities affecting women.
The Third Prize was awarded to ‘How a Parliament became more masculine during the legislative term’ by Luca Beti (swissinfo.ch), for its accurate analysis of the dynamics that lead to the under-representation of women in political institutions.
Finally, the jury awarded a special mention to ‘Libere di dover partire’ (Free to leave) by Manuela Ruggeri and Mattia Lento, for their multimedia project that delicately and profoundly recounts female emigration.
The prize is supported by BancaStato with CHF 2,500 and by the Federazione Associazioni Femminili Ticino Plus (FAFTPlus) with CHF 500.
