Data Revolution, the new documentary produced as part of the INCA project, is now available. It explores the new rules of power in a digital world. In 40 minutes, the film takes the viewer inside a rapidly evolving technological ecosystem, where data has become one of the most strategic resources of our time.
Through 11 interviews with activists, researchers and international experts, Data Revolution addresses fundamental questions: what exactly is the digital revolution? And what kind of world are we living in today?
The documentary offers a clear and accessible approach, serving both as a narrative experience and as an educational tool to better understand the digital present and imagine possible futures.
Today, data is everywhere: it determines how the apps we use every day function, guides automated decisions and powers digital infrastructures that are often invisible yet decisive. The film highlights precisely these hidden mechanisms, offering tools to understand them.
The documentary was produced under the conceptual and scientific direction of Niccolò Cuppini, a lecturer and researcher at SUPSI’s Competence Centre for Labour, Welfare and Social Research (CLWS), with executive direction by Mikel Alberdi Barnes of AZ Visual Media, executive production by Manex Urruzola and Erika Elizari, and scientific contributions from Mattia Frapporti and Maurilio Pirone.
Data Revolution is now available online on INCA’s YouTube channel.
INCA Project
The European INCA project (Increase Corporate Political Responsibility and Accountability) investigates the impact of major digital platforms (GAFAM: Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft) on European democracies, participation in decision-making processes and trust in institutions. The aim is to study how these platforms influence public opinion, democratic processes and culture, proposing new models of governance for greater social equity. INCA makes complex issues accessible to a wide audience, fostering greater critical awareness of the role of technology in contemporary society.
