July 11th, 2024
from 10:00 to 16:00
The SUPSI Competence Centre for Labour, Welfare and Social Research (CLWS) is hosting the LABOR SwissLux - Labour Across Borders research group's 2024 study day, which focuses on the study of cross-border labour markets in Europe, their evolution and their sociological and political context. The research group consists of researchers from different disciplines at universities and universities of applied sciences in Switzerland, Luxembourg and France. Researchers Ornella Larenza and Danuscia Tschudi from the SUPSI CLWS are part of it.
After an initial overview of the phenomenon of cross-border commuters who become residents and vice versa, the study day will delve into the political and economic aspects that have an influence on cross-border commuters, such as teleworking, the tax agreement between Switzerland and Italy and the minimum wage. In the afternoon, the discussion will continue with a round table discussion in which technicians, representatives of institutions and companies will take part.
This study day is in continuity with the research work carried out by the CLWS on the world of work and its transformations, in particular through the Interreg SkillMatch-Insubria project on the (re)alignment between labour supply and demand in the Insubric cross-border area and the Skillmatch Monitor project, which continues research on the topic in collaboration with the Divisione della formazione professionale del Dipartimento dell’educazione, della cultura e dello sport of the Canton Ticino.
