The Department of Environment Constructions and Design at SUPSI is participating in the Fuorisalone 2024, which is about to begin.
Virtuelizer: kinetic dataviz on sustainable urban productions - a thesis project by Sofia Petraglio, who completed her Master of Arts in Interaction Design in February - is a kinetic dataviz installation that you can interact with. Its aim is to raise awareness of the consumption of products, brands and materials that promote innovative production models to contribute to a production process in Europe that is LAUDS: local, accessible, urban, digital and sustainable.
Virtuelizer is presented as part of the European project LAUDS Factories, funded within the New European Bauhaus programme. The LAUDS Factories consortium is made up of 13 European partners and involves, among others, the SUPSI Institute of Design and FabLab, under the management of Serena Cangiano (head of FabLab), for the design of innovative, urban, local design productions.
Sofia Petraglio’s installation will be open from Monday 15 April to Sunday 21 April (Monday 15:00–19:00; Tuesday–Saturday 10:00–19:00; Sunday 10:00–15:00), at WAO PL7 in via Porro Lambertenghi 7 in Milan: a space inaugurated last autumn and dedicated to start-ups and innovative companies looking for an informal, smart and shared workplace.
FabLab, SUPSI’s Digital Fabrication Laboratory, will also be present at the Fuorisalone, with the Institute of Design, as part of the LAUDS Factories project, to propose a workshop held by Serena Cangiano, Antonella Autuori, Ginevra Terenghi and Desirée Veschetti scheduled for Tuesday 16 April 2024 from 12:30 to 15:00.
Designers, companies or collectives that are implementing design products and green solutions are invited to participate. LAUDS Factories will launch two open calls for more than 14 projects, awarding 40,000 euros to each selected project; it will also organise exhibitions, events and workshops dedicated to the new paradigm of open and sustainable urban production in Europe.
To participate in the (free) workshop, which will be held at LAMPO (via Valtellina 5), please write to contact@lauds.tu-berlin.de.
ISAAC-Institute of Applied Sustainability to the Built Environment is also taking part in the Fuorisalone, in collaboration with Sun Appeal, proposing the Building with the sun pavilion to present the design potential of solar energy, elevating solar panels to a new sensibility and poetry. A rich cycle of lectures is offered to explore various topics; speakers include Francesco Frontini and Pierluigi Bonomo of ISAAC.
Building with the sun and related conferences will be held at Opificio 31 (via Tortona 31).
