Lorenzo Pezzoli, professor in charge of the Applied Psychology Competence Centre at SUPSI, meets and talks with Silvio Ciappi, who was recently a guest at the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS) continuing education programme for training in the field of CAS in forensic nursing.
Silvio Ciappi, psychologist and psychotherapist, is a significant figure in the field of criminology, with important experience in the United States and around the world. He is the author of highly successful essays and books, including “Odio”, “Il branco” and “Predatori”. He has met serial killers and perpetrators of various crimes, whose profiles he explores in depth in his essays. He recently published a concise but intense book aimed at those who want to pursue a career in criminology (“Lettera a un giovane criminologo”, published by Giunti), which is mentioned in the interview.
The theme of evil fascinates and frightens us, and the opportunity to explore it in depth at a specialist level allows us to reflect on it beyond the criminological dimension and open up to the diverse ways in which it can creep into everyone's lives.
