"With the wings
of knowledge
and the courage
to dream
it's time to fly"
In a hall packed to capacity, 350 students from the Department of Business, Health and Social Sciences (DEASS) at SUPSI, accompanied by their loved ones, celebrated an important milestone achieved through commitment, sacrifice and dedication.
In his opening speech, SUPSI Director General Franco Gervasoni emphasised the collective pride in the achievements of the DEASS graduates and the value they will bring to society as professionals active in a wide range of fields. Their personal and professional stories are set to develop successfully in the future, thanks to the wealth of skills, experience, motivation and human values that SUPSI has helped to nurture over the course of their years of training, and thanks to the fundamental contribution of local partners with whom SUPSI shares its educational mission.
Next, the Director of DEASS, Luca Crivelli, highlighted the importance of this academic achievement, drawing inspiration from the latest issue of the departmental magazine Iride, dedicated to the theme of care. Crivelli emphasised how care, in its broadest sense, is an essential element for the growth of society, even though it is often underestimated in the contemporary economic context. The message to all graduates is to take care of people, relationships, places, common goods, biodiversity and their inner selves in order to continue to flourish as a civilisation.
The opening speeches concluded with a greeting from the Director of the Culture and University Studies Division, Massimo Zenari, on behalf of the Department of Education, Culture and Sport (DECS), who congratulated all the graduates on their achievements, the end of a journey but also the beginning of a new personal and professional chapter from which to spread their wings.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of diplomas to 350 students who had completed the various Bachelor's and Master's of Science programmes offered by DEASS: Bachelor's in Leisure Management (31 graduates), Bachelor's in Business Economics (69), Bachelor's in Social Work (65), Bachelor's in Nursing (102), Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy (15), Bachelor's in Physiotherapy (29) and Master's in Business Administration (36).
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards to the best students in the Bachelor's and Master's programmes, thanks to the support of Banca Stato for the economics area and EOC for the social and health care area, symbolising the close link between SUPSI and the professional organisations that welcome young people at the end of their studies.
The "Banca Stato Award" was presented by Dario Caramanica, member of the management team and Head of Human Resources at Banca Stato, to the following graduates:
- Martina Moralli: Bachelor of Science in Leisure Management
- Fabio Kobi: Bachelor of Science in Business Economics
- Shawn Petroboni: Master of Science in Business Administration
The "EOC Award" was presented by Glauco Martinetti, Director General of EOC, to the following graduates:
- Amina Heusser and Martina Tranquillo (joint winners): Bachelor of Science in Social Work
- Elisa CalĂ Lesina: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Sabrina Safwan: Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
- Giona Riva: Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy
In addition to the total number of DEASS graduates, there are 35 diplomas awarded in 2025 to students of the Bachelor in Physiotherapy at the Landquart campus.
The ceremony was enhanced by an immersive multimedia projection show that metaphorically accompanied the students along their journey at SUPSI, a journey of commitment, challenges and discoveries that transformed their initial anxieties and doubts into a race towards a bright future. They are now ready to spread their wings and fly towards new horizons.
Congratulations to all DEASS graduates on this important milestone! May your degree be not only a goal, but a sign of personal and professional growth that will continue to guide you into the future!
An emotional moment, which involved all the students and the audience in the hall, was the remembrance of Mariagrazia Brovelli, a student on the Bachelor's degree programme in Nursing, who tragically passed away in May 2024 and who should have completed her studies this year alongside her classmates. Our thoughts are with you, Mariagrazia, and we offer you a special dedication from the whole SUPSI community.
