To tackle an issue that encompasses aspects of ecology, public health and scientific citizenship in an informed and comprehensive manner, a range of skills is required: from scientific knowledge and land management to individual behaviour.
The new educational booklet The tiger mosquito flies into schools. Prevenire insieme con scuola e territorio in corresponsabilità, offers science education programmes based on the case of the tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) in the Canton of Ticino.
Through experimental activities, field observations and data analysis, the work provides teaching materials adapted to different school levels to promote active and contextualised scientific learning. A resource designed to offer teachers and pupils a scientifically sound, clear and practical tool for addressing a real, complex and highly topical issue.
The teaching booklet is available in digital format (downloadable PDF) on the page The tiger mosquito flies to school. Preventing together with schools and the local community in shared responsibility.
