The idea of creating an interactive didactic workshop in the field of structures was born with the aim of enhancing students' 'know-how' by making simple structural scale models.
The desire to create a didactic workshop stems from the awareness that in order to address even complex issues, it is necessary to flank traditional lectures with a didactic methodology based on 'know-how' (developed with 'Learning by Doing'). The 'doing', however, must always be accompanied by 'thinking' in order to create the right awareness of the connections between the activity (or topic) addressed and the consequences that may result from it.
This workshop, led by lecturer Daniele Forni, is initially designed as a teaching aid for subjects related to statics and the theory of structures (for the Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and the Bachelor's degree in Architecture).
The idea is to create small models to be used in teaching. Depending on the topics, the lecturer introduces the theoretical concept with a frontal lecture and then goes on to introduce the teaching workshop model, leaving the students with the task of solving a given problem; or they start from the direct experience of the students who assemble a model experimenting with its characteristics and criticalities, limitations and peculiarities, then triggering from their observations a discussion and/or debate to set the objectives of the learning process.
