Alissa Pellizzari, a first-year student on the Bachelor's degree program in Leisure Management and an intern at SUPSI's Institutional Communication Service in the field of event organization, talks about her journey between study and work, guided by her passion for event organization.
How do you feel about embarking on this new chapter in your life?
Above all, curiosity. It's the beginning of a journey where I will meet people, gain experience, and discover new things. So I can't help but be intrigued by what lies ahead. On the other hand, the big challenge ahead of me will be finding a good balance between my studies and work. For me, it's essential to get off on the right foot and manage my time optimally.
You have chosen to study while working for the SUPSI events organization, thanks to the part-time formula. Where did this decision come from?
At first, I hadn't considered this option, but after a year of internship at the SUPSI Institutional Communication Service, I realized that it was the best choice for me. Here, I not only discovered how exciting it is to organize events, but I also found a pleasant and extremely engaging work environment. That's why I asked to continue my studies while continuing to work. I am very motivated and can't wait to embark on this new adventure, aware that studying and working at the same time will require commitment.
Let's take a step back. How was this year in Management? How was the experience?
Surprising. At first, I thought I would spend my days in the office. Instead, the work is extremely dynamic and often takes us to various locations, but that's not all. I had no idea that SUPSI organized and hosted so many events.
On that note, where did your interest in the world of events come from?
Music is one of the most important things in my life. One day, I would love to work in the organization of music festivals and concerts. I am sure that the Bachelor's degree in Leisure Management will help me find the right path to build the future I have always wanted.
What else do you expect from the Bachelor's degree in Leisure Management?
I would like to start by saying that I chose this course because of its practical as well as theoretical approach. I find it more stimulating than traditional classroom teaching. At the end of our studies, we will be able to enter the world of event organization and create positive experiences.
I expect to find a dynamic study environment, rich in different experiences that will help me grow, especially on a personal level. I am thinking of modules such as “Personal Growth” and “Communication and Public Speaking,” to name a couple.
How do you think you will evolve professionally in the coming years?
I haven't set myself any real goals yet. I would like to be able to work a little more independently, following the example of my manager. She has a method that works; it's practical and effective. She manages everything well, and everything works even when the unexpected happens, which is always just around the corner in events. I would like to acquire this kind of confidence.
