The Institute of Microbiology actively contributes to Undergraduate and Graduate Studies at SUPSI, including the
Bachelor’s in Conservation and the
Master’s programs in Conservation-Restoration and
Master of Science in Engineering.
The Microbial ecology sector, part of the
Microbiology Unit, is an
Associated Research Group within the Department of
Plant Sciences at the University of Geneva (UNIGE). It engages in foundational teaching within the
Bachelor’s in Biology and the
Master’s in Microbiology programs at UNIGE.
The Microbial ecology sector also coordinates and/or contributes to courses offered by other Swiss institutions, such as University of Zürich, University of Geneva, Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften (ZHAW), as well as international universities. This collaborative network strengthens interdisciplinary education and broadens opportunities for students. Furthermore, the sector hosts Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral students, often in collaboration with the University of Geneva or the University of Zürich, among others. These projects provide direct access to advanced research in microbiology and environmental sciences.
The Environmental biotechnology sector is involved in the Master of Science in Engineering program, with a specialization in
Energy & Environment. This initiative equips students with advanced skills in sustainable resource and energy management.
For Continuing Education, the Environmental biotechnology sector offers tailor-made courses in wastewater treatment and biotechnological processes for converting waste biomass into energy carriers, addressing the needs of professionals and industry stakeholders.
