The 2026/2027 educational offering of the DFA/ASP has been presented

DECS and SUPSI have presented their new offerings for the coming academic year. An Open Day is scheduled for January 24, when all the courses will be presented.

At the start of the press conference, State Councilor Marina Carobbio Guscetti, Director of DECS, emphasized the ongoing dialogue and collaboration with the university institutions responsible for teacher training in Ticino: the wiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training (SFUVET) and the DFA/ASP of SUPSI. This collaboration is crucial to ensuring that schools have teachers who are adequately trained and educated to teach, educate, and respond to the real needs of today's and tomorrow's students.


DFA/ASP course offerings for 2026/2027
The SUPSI DFA/ASP course offerings for the 2026/2027 academic year, introduced by SUPSI Director General Franco Gervasoni and presented in detail by DFA/ASP Director Alberto Piatti, include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Primary School Teaching
  • Master's Degree in Specialized Pedagogy and Inclusive Education
  • Master's Degree in Secondary Level I Teaching (middle school) in the following subjects: French (foreign language), German (foreign language), mathematics, physical education, Latin, history of religions
  • Teaching Diploma for high schools in the subject: German (foreign language)

The Master's Degree in Teaching for Secondary Level I (middle school) for the academic years 2027/2028 and 2028/2029 was also presented, allowing students to plan their university careers.

The subjects for which there is likely to be a high demand for teachers in the school system in the coming years are German and mathematics for middle school, as well as German (as a foreign language) for high school. Among the new developments planned for the 2026/2027 academic year are a wide range of courses for teaching German in middle schools through three possible modalities, as well as multi-year planning for middle school training and in the field of special education and inclusive teaching.

Given the high demand for mathematics and German teachers in middle schools, a training program is being offered that includes a pathway to a Master's degree in Teaching for Secondary Level I (middle school) for candidates who do not yet have a complete education in the subject. A part-time Bachelor's degree in elementary school teaching is also being launched, allowing for a better balance between study and private life.

All the degree courses mentioned are recognized by the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education (EDK) and therefore allow graduates to teach the corresponding subjects in the relevant school systems in all Swiss cantons.  

Enrollment for the DFA/ASP Master's and Diploma courses closes on February 17, 2026, and for Bachelor's courses on February 27, 2026. Admission to the courses is limited.
