It is responsible for the initial and in-service training of generalist pre-school and primary school teachers in the field of physical education and physical education specialists in middle school.

The Area of physical education teaching contributes to raising students' awareness of the importance of motor skills for the overall growth of the individual and for a healthy lifestyle.

The Physical Education Teaching Area works in contact with the region and the cantonal school system, also by virtue of the activities of some members as experts in compulsory education.
It is a recognised partner of the Divisione scuola in the continuing education of all physical education teachers active in the region and advises the Ufficio dello sport on issues concerning the training of future monitors/coaches and on aspects of optional school sport.
