Area of Geography Teaching (GEO)
Area of Geography Teaching (GEO)
It is a space for exchange, experimentation and reflection on approaches to geography, their evolution in time and space and their implementation in the teaching context of Ticino schools.
The Area of Geography Teaching is active on several fronts with research aimed at furthering the role of geography teaching in different areas, designing and testing innovative teaching materials for the teaching of environment and geography.
We pass through skills developed in multiple contexts, outside the box of disciplines with an auditory rather than oculocentric perspective.
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
ESD contributes to developing the skills and knowledge needed to meet the future challenges of our planet.
Geography and citizenship
We reflect on the contribution of the teaching of geography to 'living and acting in complexity considering the plurality of perspectives' (Ticino's compulsory school curriculum, version 2022).
Outdoor education
Outdoor activities and experiences to promote conscious learning, increasing health, well-being and awareness of the environment around us.
Third educating landscapes
The third landscape, a space of indecision, fragility, unproductiveness, and of welcoming what is rejected as a metaphor for a healing and educating mission.
Learning spaces
The research proposes a concept of learning spaces that departs from the idea of a school as the sum of classrooms and extends beyond the educational dimension to the social context and the ability of an environment to influence the quality of relationships and consequently teaching.
