In today's multicultural and ever-changing society, issues such as inclusion and education for democracy are of strategic importance in shaping people capable of inclusion and acceptance and appreciation of the Other.
The third volume of the Democrazia e Scuola series starts from the concept of identity and the multiple forms of discrimination, to address the theme of stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination from different angles and through specific approaches. Topics covered by the different authors include mediation and educational communication, implicit beliefs of teachers, cultural and racial diversity, sex education, political rights of people with disabilities and historical awareness of global inequalities.
Structured in a first theoretical and empirical research part and a second part more oriented towards projects and good practices, the volume also gathers insights from the activities carried out during the 3rd International Day of Democracy, celebrated at the Department of Education and Learning / University of Teacher Education on 15 September 2023. Some experiences and teaching paths also provide tools and resources for tackling and preventing discrimination and racism at school.
The volume can be downloaded free of charge at the page Identità, stereotipi, pregiudizi e discriminazioni.
