Organisation

SUPSI is an autonomous public-law institution established by Canton Ticino, comprising departments and affiliated schools. In order to meet the needs of its stakeholders, SUPSI has equipped itself with an institutional structure composed of governing bodies, participatory bodies and independent bodies.

SUPSI Board

The Board currently consists of 11 members appointed by the State Council of Canton Ticino and 2 members of the academic body elected by the employees. It is responsible for the strategic direction and control of the School.

The SUPSI Direction consists of the Director General, the Directors of Departments, Wards and Affiliated Schools, the Administrative Director and the Head of Services of the General Secretariat. It is responsible for operational management.

Quality Coordination Commission

The Quality Coordination Commission is responsible for supervising and coordinating the implementation of the Quality Assurance System (QMS). It is a body established by the Management.

Ethical Commission

The Ethics Commission oversees the correct application of the rules of conduct and revision of the Code of Ethics. It has an advisory function and is established by the Council.

Management and Governance Commission

The SUPSI Council establishes from among its members a permanent Commission, known as the Management and Governance Commission, which has the task of examining in advance the resolution proposals submitted to the Council on issues within its competence. Its members are appointed by the Council from among its members.

The Consultative Commissions - set up in each Department and affiliated School - carry out tasks of a strategic nature for the benefit of the entire Department or specific sectors.

The Coordination Group of College Presidents facilitates the flow of information between the various Departmental Colleges on the organisation and strategies of SUPSI and is the interlocutor of the SUPSI Executive Board and Council.

The Department of Education and Learning / University of Teacher Education (DFA/ASP) deals with initial and continuing teacher training and for research and development in education and training.

The Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) carries out basic and continuing education, research and technology transfer in engineering in the fields of electronics, information technology, artificial intelligence, mechanics, industrial production and medical technology.

Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana – University of Music

Founded in 1999, the University School of Music of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana has been affiliated to SUPSI since 2006. In addition to Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes and a growing offer in the field of continuing education, the CSI-UoM combines cutting-edge research activity; all this in an international environment, enriched by the presence of active teacher-artists at the top of the concert scene.

Accademia Teatro Dimitri

Affiliated with SUPSI since 2006, the Accademia offers degree programmes in physical theatre that are unique in Europe, complemented by continuing education courses and applied research activities. With its locations in Verscio and Avegno, set in an enchanting natural environment, the Accademia combines family and international dimensions in a welcoming and stimulating environment.

Fernfachhochschule Schweiz

Specialising in combined distance learning, the Fernfachhochschule Schweiz (FFHS) offers Bachelor's, Master's and federally recognised continuing education courses in the fields of economics, IT, engineering and health. With its locations in Brig, Zurich, Berne, Basel and St. Gallen.

Fachhochschule Südschweiz Physiotherapie Graubünden

The Physiotherapy Area of the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care (DEASS) is also present in the canton of Graubünden with SUPSI Lanquart, which offers a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapie and interesting further training courses for professionals. With its Rehabilitation and Exercise Science Laboratory it is active in research in the fields of therapy and rehabilitation.

Associated Schools

Alpine Foundation for Life Sciences (FASV)

Founded in Olivone in 2005, FASV develops training and research projects. SUPSI and FASV have identified common areas of interest in study and research activities and will collaborate as a priority on the topics of climate change, environmental and sustainability education, hydrology, hydrogeology, limnology, biosecurity and forensic science. Collaboration will also extend to citizen science on environmental issues, mountain studies, land education and other topics of common interest that will emerge over time.
