21 April 2026 marks the national Sexual Harassment Awareness Day campaign, the result of a collaboration between swissuniversities and numerous Swiss universities. The aim of the day is to raise awareness within academic communities about sexual harassment and sexism in places of study and work, with a view to fostering greater awareness and understanding of the issue and preventing such behaviour.
Once again this year, SUPSI is actively participating in the national awareness campaign through the following initiatives:
- Proposal for the workshop ‘Stereotypes, gender bias and sexual harassment: how to tackle them?’, aimed at SUPSI and USI staff. The course will enable participants to identify situations in which gender bias and sexual harassment occur, highlighting both the cultural factors that may facilitate the phenomenon and the actions that can be taken to prevent them. The workshop is organised by the SUPSI Gender and Diversity Service and the USI Equal Opportunities Service in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Work, Welfare and Society of the Department of Business, Health and Social Sciences (DEASS) and the Dimitri Academy.
- Stands and small information points will be set up at SUPSI campuses to provide information on the preventive measures and policies implemented at SUPSI regarding this issue. Gadgets will also be distributed on the day.
Once again this year, the initiatives organised as part of Sexual Harassment Awareness Day highlight SUPSI’s strong commitment to equal opportunities, fairness and inclusion, including issues relating to the protection of personal dignity and integrity. These initiatives aim to foster a respectful and considerate study and working environment, as well as an institutional culture focused on the well-being of staff and students.
