SkillGym is a digital role play platform to develop, measure and improve conversational and soft skills through artificial intelligence systems, interactive videos, augmented reality and smart metrics.
At the Learning Technologies Award 2023 it was awarded a gold medal in the category 'Most Innovative New Technologies' with the following motivation:
"We believe this is a potentially revolutionary tool for development related to soft skills and behaviour. Digital learning has always struggled to find effective solutions that allow users to train in the application of strictly behavioural aspects, and this tool has done just that, harnessing artificial intelligence. This can only allow for continuous improvement. We look forward to seeing how it progresses'.
After receiving the Global Edtech Startup Award (GESA), the world's most important award in the Edtech sphere, in 2021, it was further enhanced thanks to the Boost project (Boosting the SkillGym User Experience with Advanced Natural Language Understanding) carried out in collaboration with the Institute of Information Systems and Networking (ISIN) and the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA USI-SUPSI).
The project, funded by the Swiss Innovation Agency (Innosuisse), aimed to improve the quality of the SkillGym user experience through the development and use of state-of-the-art techniques for natural language understanding (NLU).
