Established in 2008, the Radon Competence Center at SUPSI-Department of Environment Constructions and Design is recognized by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) as the regional radon service for Italian-speaking Switzerland.
CCR's activities aim to raise awareness among the public and building industry specialist(s) with a focus on improving radon prevention and restoration techniques in residential and nonresidential buildings.
A webinar was held at the end of May to present both the most common issues related to the presence of radon in buildings, through an introduction by CCR manager Luca Pampuri, and the Piano d’azione nazionale radon 2021–2030, with a speech by Fabio Barazza (UFSP). The Plan contains the federal strategy for protection against radon gas and defines the areas of action that are to be dealt with as a priority over the next few years. The radon consultant, architect and municipal technician Roberto Wullschleger, on the other hand, shared his experiences: his testimony focused on the role that the municipal technician can play in this area, particularly when issuing the certificate of habitability.
