External evaluations
External evaluations measure the quality of our activities by comparison with peers from other schools or qualified experts. As a university of technology, SUPSI is also subject to periodic monitoring, reporting and audits.
The quality of services and activities is periodically checked, thanks to a further evaluation with a qualified external comparison at various levels. Special attention is paid to the quality of education and research, with periodic evaluation of degree programs and research units.
Process evaluation
An initial round of external evaluations is planned for each of the processes to check their readiness and effectiveness. Qualified experts active in other entities similar to SUPSI are involved in the evaluation.
Assessment of degree programmes
Periodically, based on a schedule approved by the SUPSI Direction, all degree programmes delivered by SUPSI and its affiliated Schools are evaluated. Evaluations are coordinated by the Directorate of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies, and involve recognised external peers, providing value for evaluations. Healthcare degree courses, as well as the courses for obtaining the Teaching Diploma for upper secondary level schools, are regularly subjected to evaluation by the AAQ.
Evaluation of research activities
Periodically, based on a schedule approved by SUPSI Direction, departments and affiliated Schools are evaluated. Evaluations are coordinated by the Research Service and involve recognized external peers, which enables the evaluations to ensure value.
External controls and audits
SUPSI's processes are audited by the internal audit, which is managed by the SUPSI Board. The Cantonal Audit Office audits SUPSI's financial accounts annually. Other external bodies periodically check and supervise the specific activities of SUPSI. Some laboratories are also accredited according to international standards (ISO 17025).
Institutional accreditation
Institutional accreditation is required every 7 years, which aims to evaluate the Quality Assurance System of all academic institutions.
