Biodiversity and functional ecology - IM

Area of the Microbial ecology sector

The Biodiversity and functional ecology group investigates human impacts on biodiversity and the functioning of freshwater ecosystems. Our research often employs detritus-based food webs as a study system, with a focus on macroinvertebrates and aquatic hyphomycetes as key organism groups.
These projects aim to enhance knowledge of underexplored organisms and promote their conservation. To achieve this, we frequently collaborate with institutions and organizations responsible for environmental protection.

MoSTFun

MoSTFun (Monitoring strategies and tools to address knowledge gaps on aquatic fungal biodiversity) is a project under the European program Biodiversa+. The aim is to develop tools and knowledge to include aquatic fungi in biodiversity monitoring programs. Samples and experiences from both new and existing monitoring programs will be analyzed. This will ensure that the tools and knowledge generateed can be integrated into various types of monitoring programs and contexts.
