Tunnel safety: smart sensors to monitor air quality, traffic and risks

In road tunnels, safety depends on rapid decisions and reliable real-time information. During a fire, understanding airflow dynamics and vehicle positions is essential to contain toxic smoke and support emergency response operations. To address these challenges, researchers from the SUPSI Institute of Systems and Applied Electronics (ISEA) developed a new generation of smart sensors designed to improve tunnel ventilation systems and strengthen emergency management.

Innovative inline automatic inspection system for identifying process drifts

The InnoInspect project, developed by the Institute of Systems and Applied Electronics (ISEA) in collaboration with the company Tomaco SA, has created a 2D online automatic inspection system for mechanical parts during the machining process. Thanks to advanced image processing techniques, the system can detect production process deviations on a micrometric scale, even in the presence of machining residues.
