In the Bachelor's degree programmes in pre-school teaching and Bachelor's degree programmes in primary school education, the Laboratory runs courses in digital didactics, media education, computational thinking and courses in science.

Every year, the Laboratory also offers in-depth courses of choice and supervises several Bachelor's theses. Also of particular note are the training activities in collaboration with the geography didactics area on the topics of outdoor education and sustainability.

In the Master's in Teaching for Secondary I and Master's in Teaching Mathematics for Secondary I the Laboratory offers a course on media education and one on integrated digital didactics and runs the disciplinary didactics and natural science laboratory. The Laboratory also accompanies several Master's theses.

In the Teaching Diploma in Upper Secondary Education, the Laboratory offers a course on technology in teaching.

In the area of Continuing Education, the Laboratory offers several short courses in the fields of technology, media, game-based learning and natural science didactics, as well as long-term courses such as DAS food education in middle school and CAS Educational Robotics.

The Laboratory carries out its activities in the context of the digitisation of schools in the Canton of Ticino, in close collaboration with the Centro di risorse didattiche e digitali (CERDD) of the Dipartimento dell'educazione, della cultura e dello sport del Canton Ticino (DECS).

Stable and fruitful collaborations in the field of research are established with the Centre for Learning Sciences (LEARN) of the EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, as well as with the other Swiss universities of teacher education.

Many dissemination activities in Ticino are carried out in collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival and the Media in Piazza network, in which Wikimedia Switzerland and the Università della Svizzera italiana also participate.

The laboratory also serves as the antenna for Italian-speaking Switzerland of GLOBE Switzerland, a foundation that promotes the exploration and collection of climate data and parameters in schools to foster scientific collaboration at a global level, within an international network involving schools and research centres.
